How to Set Up and Use Siri on iPhone, iPad, and Mac

Getting Started with the Siri AI App Beta in 2026Apple’s Siri AI App beta is now available for select users in 2026. This guide walks you through installation,

Setting up Siri means flipping switches in Settings — not downloading anything. Here's how on each device.

iPhone and iPad

  1. Open Settings, then Apple Intelligence & Siri (on older iOS versions it's just Siri).
  2. Turn on Listen for and pick "Siri" or "Hey Siri."
  3. Turn on Press Side Button for Siri if you want the button shortcut.
  4. Follow the voice-training prompts so it recognizes you.

Mac

Open System Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri, enable it, and choose your keyboard shortcut and language. On newer Macs you can also invoke it hands-free.

Apple Watch and HomePod

Raise to speak or say "Hey Siri" on the Watch; HomePod listens by default once set up. Both pair through the iPhone's settings.

Making it actually useful

  • Teach it names: "Siri, call Mom" only works if your contacts have those relationships set.
  • Use Shortcuts: the real power move — chain actions into one voice command.
  • Check Apple Intelligence eligibility: the newest Siri features need recent hardware; Apple lists exactly which devices qualify.

What not to do

Don't install anything claiming to be a "Siri app" or "Siri APK" — Apple doesn't distribute Siri that way, and fakes are a malware risk. If Siri isn't working, the fix is in Settings or a software update, never a third-party download. Background: our Siri overview and where voice assistants are headed.
